3:35pm | Police have filed charges against two of the three suspects arrested earlier this week in a massive narcotics bust that netted about 130 pounds of cocaine and methamphetamines worth over $10 million.
Carmelo Bueno, 40, was arrested at a home near Magnolia and Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, where authorities recovered 126 pounds of methamphetamines. Camerino Barraza, 46, was arrested at a home near Santa Fe and Rosecrans in Compton, where authorities recovered 13 pounds of cocaine. Today, both suspects were charged with Possession For Sale in the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.
A 37-year old female arrested at the Long Beach location was released and not charged.
Long Beach Police Department Lieutenant Jeff Cooper explained that large narco cases such as this are handled in the larger Los Angeles office and not locally. The bust was the result of a year-long investigation into the illegal drug trade.
Lt. Cooper also said that it appeared Bueno and Barraza were working together, and that the drugs had come from outside the country.
"When you have quantities this big, it's all coming from Mexico," said Lt. Cooper today.
