SENTRI

SENTRI is Customs and Border Protection's trusted-traveler program for approved frequent border-crossers that allows members to use a designated commuter lane that is faster than normal lanes.

A 45-year-old Nogales, Ariz., man was arrested Tuesday after he tried to smuggle nearly 52 pounds of cocaine into the United States through a commuter lane reserved for frequent border crossers.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer became suspicious of the man’s vehicle, a 2001 Ford F-150 shortly after 9 a.m. and referred him for a more thorough inspection, according to a press release.
During an inspection officers found 19 packages of cocaine weighing nearly 52 pounds hidden inside a compartment built into the vehicle, the release says.
The man was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution, according to the release.
The man tried to enter the United States thorough the Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection, or SENTRI, lane at the Dennis DeConcini port of entry in Nogales, the release says.
