Five Athens residents are facing drug charges following two separate busts Tuesday night in which Limestone County authorities recovered marijuana, crack cocaine and the psychedelic drug ecstasy, an official said.
Sheriff Mike Blakely, Chief Deputy Randy King and Lt. Lance Royals arrested three of the five about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday following an investigation prompted by complaints about drug sales, particularly crack cocaine, Blakely said. Arrested were:• Michael Louis Stephenson, 37, of 8398 Upper Snake Road. He was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of first-degree possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in the Limestone County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $16,000 bond. • Terri Lenitria Smith, 29, of 165 N. Jefferson St. She was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released from jail after posting $11,000 bond. • Tevarus Dwight Graves, 29, of 810 Westview. He was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from jail after posting $11,000 bond. “We stopped them at Salem and wound up finding cocaine, ecstasy pills, marijuana and a quarter ounce of crack cocaine,” Blakely said. “When we got them to the jail, Smith had an ecstasy pill hidden in her bra. When we went to Stephenson’s home, he had a safe with pills and we found marijuana and recovered the safe containing 41 ecstasy pills.”Traffic stop In a separate drug bust Tuesday night, two Limestone County deputies arrested and charged two Athens men with drug possession following a traffic stop between 7:30 and 8 p.m. on U.S. 72, Blakely said.
Deputies found about a pound of marijuana, he said.
